Whaddya Wanna Know?

Hopefully we’ve covered everything you might want to know below but, if you have a particularly unusual request or you have a question which we haven’t been asked before, please call us on 020 3417 0469 or email George .

  1. I want to train at The Foundry… what’s the first step?

First things first, get in touch with Helen . She’s not a trainer but she is one of the Foundry Founders and knows the place inside out. Tell her all about yourself, where you are now, where you want to be and she’ll let you know how we can best help you and the options available.

  1. Don’t like to admit it but I’ve been a bit clumsy in the past. Years of playing sport and abuse have turned my Adonis-like body into a bit of a mess. What can we do about it?

If you have any old injuries or structural issues that have been or are a concern, before you even step into a training studio and lift any weights, we suggest you see Nell, our rehab director and head of Victory Health and Performance. Our 30 min structural assessment costs just £50 and gives you the peace of mind that your trainer’s programme will be in line with your abilities and needs from the outset.

  1. How do you charge for sessions?

It’s not ground breaking but, before we know what to charge for training, we need to decide how frequently you want to train. To ensure the consistency of training, we bill on a monthly basis in advance so your trainer knows exactly how frequently they are going to train you. Training sessions are billed on a monthly basis in advance and vary between £55-80 per session; please see Pricing for details of our costs.

  1. How much am I charged for additional sessions?

If you end up being super keen and training more frequently than you anticipated, you will pay the pro rata price for these additional sessions. No extra admin fees; you just pay for what you completed.

  1. What extras do I get with my personal training programme?

Nutrition is part and parcel of any successful training regime and you will receive free dietary advice from your trainer in line with your training goals. We also provide you with free post work out protein shakes (providing it’s part of your nutritional plan) after every session.

  1. Are there any hidden costs?

We like to be upfront about what stuff costs and that’s how we approach the cost of our training. Each month, you pay for your training sessions, plus any additional sessions taken the previous month.

  1. What is your cancellation policy for personal training sessions?

Due to the nature of personal training i.e. monopolising someone’s time, and the reality that we strictly limit how many clients can train at any one time, we require a minimum 24 hours notice for cancellations without charge.

  1. Can I train by myself at The Foundry?

Unfortunately, we can’t help you here. We love the fact our super convenient City of London location offers privacy for our clients and enables our trainers to have full access to all the equipment for your sessions, without the need to fight off the magpies. If you are interested in signing up to The Foundry and are also looking for a more traditional style gym membership, take a look at Foundry:east, our new performance centre in East London which will be launching later this year.

  1. When can I train?

Whether your diary is like clockwork or you can’t commit to regular training times, The Foundry is your private training studio. As long as your and your trainer’s diaries match, you can train whenever you want!

  1. What happens if my trainer goes on holiday?

Unlike most independent personal trainers, The Foundry is made up of an amazing team of training specialists who are confident that, if they go away, their clients will be left in capable hands. Should your trainer decide to take a well earned break, do not fear. Any of our training team will be able cover your sessions using the training programme provided by your trainer ensuring you keep on pushing towards those all important goals.

  1. I’m not exactly going to be at the Olympics any time soon, will I need to do some work before coming to you?

Not at all. Many of clients start with us with minimum fitness levels and see training with us as a way to kick start their fitness regime. We can guide you towards achieving your goals, whatever your initial starting point.

  1. Can The Foundry offer the type of training I am after?

With our extremely experienced trainers, The Foundry provides a wide range of training methods whatever your goals. Whether you are a competitive sportsperson looking to improve your performance, want to look better on the beach, or just want to improve your general health, we can help you achieve this.

  1. Can The Foundry offer the facilities for high performance sports training despite being a London based gym?

Our private training studio Foundry:city, located at London Liverpool Street, has more than enough equipment, weights and space for most of our clients’ needs. However, should you wish to push your training to great heights, our new performance centre, Foundry:east, will have both the indoor and outdoor space and facilities to offer an exciting array of exercises for specialised high performance training.

  1. I’m interested in training but feel self-conscious; what can The Foundry offer me?

With three private training studios at Foundry:city, you can push yourself and your body in one on one sessions without anyone else watching. Lose your balance? Who cares… only you and your trainer will know about it. If that’s not enough, it also means that you can avoid the grunters and the posers…. unless of course you are secretly one of them!

  1. Are some trainers better than other at The Foundry?

Our training team is what makes The Foundry. Not only with their years of training experience and own sporting experience can they write effective training programmes, but they are also a fantastic bunch of people too. With our rigorous recruitment policy, we expect our trainers to provide you with exceptional service. In fact, Dave and Helen, the original Founders, both put their money where there mouth is and employ our team to train them on a regular basis.
