Where can you find a team of personal trainers and coaches in London that genuinely care about you and your training goals?

Nowhere else but The Foundry!

It’s the people who work at The Foundry who make it what it is. Some of us have competed on an international level in our field of choice; some have worked and lived in the City and understand the stresses and challenges this brings; others have worked as a personal trainer for longer than they would care to admit. We cover all bases.

But let’s get real. Our personal backgrounds are all well and good but all you really want is the confidence that your trainer will get you where you want to be.

If your trainer does not listen to what you want and is unable to translate their personal experience into a successful training relationship, based around your goals and lifestyle, then personal background and achievements account for nothing.

We have years of experience of working with a wide range of clients, from busy City professionals to students to professional athletes, and we know what it takes to make you succeed, whatever your goal or motivation.

Most importantly we love what we do, which makes a huge difference to the personal service you receive.

Think of us as your Coach. Personal training is more than what you do and what you eat. It’s also about how you think. Psychology plays a huge role in your success, whether it’s motivating you to stay on track, empathising and understanding when things don’t quite go to plan and bringing you back on the right track to ensure your success.

If you’re interested in any of our services or would like to have a chat with any of the team, please feel free to contact us directly to organise a consultation.

  • Dave Thomas

    Dave Thomas

    Director and Personal Trainer

Dave Thomas is the original founder and personal trainer at The Foundry. Uninspired by both the ‘impersonal’ business model of personal training within many chain gyms and the exclusivity and branding of the ‘celebrity trainer’ in London, Dave decided to set up a performance and personal training company to enable everyday people to achieve their health and fitness goals.

B.F. (Before Foundry), Dave previously enjoyed a successful rugby career representing school, county, region and various clubs around the world and university. A culmination of injuries and ‘being a bit soft’ put pay to a potential professional career and led to a long horse and cart ride ‘dahn sarf’, where after attaining a degree in Philosophy and English Literature from The University of Warwick, he spent several years working as a conference director and a sales/sponsorship executive. His experience of a military upbringing, the top end sports environment and working in both physical jobs and a stressful corporate atmosphere gave him first hand experience of the varied spectrum of health and fitness goals.

In addition to training clients, running weekly group sessions, and training several professional and amateur sports people, Dave is resident fitness coach at several rugby clubs, a BioSignature Modulation practitioner, PICP Level 2 Strength Coach and keen health and fitness writer. He is passionate about using the power of sport to help people’s lives and is a Trustee of School of Hard Knocks Charity.

He is the most likely member of The Foundry to be stopped and searched.

  • Graeme Marsh

    Graeme Marsh

    Director and Personal Trainer

Graeme Marsh is a second generation personal trainer (now you don’t get many of those!) and has worked with clients around the world including top actors and business people. He has been training clients in the city since 2002, having trained Police officers and coached fitness and sports in the USA, Europe and Australia since leaving the Army in 1996.

A regular in the national media and two books to his name, Graeme’s qualifications back up his reputation; in fact it’d be quicker just to list them. As well as holding an MSc from LSBU in Science of Sports Coaching, he has qualifications from ACSM and NASM, is an AAHFRP Medical Exercise Specialist, and Level 3 PICP Strength coach.

Graeme has a keen interest in the business and educational side of the industry.

Graeme also set up the London Trainer Network, linking fitness professionals and personal trainers through learning.

Graeme is the member of The Foundry most likely to say “Powerful” to, well, just about anything.

  • Richard Thompson

    Richard Thompson

    Personal Trainer

With a background in business, peak performance coaching and change management, Richard Thompson holds a degree in Cognitive Science and is a certified NLP trainer as well as being an experienced Personal Trainer.  Building on a lifelong passion for fitness, Richard has developed a unique set of tools for rapid physical transformation.  His no-holds barred training approach and background in performance psychology gives him an uncanny knack for working clients right to the edge of their capabilities, driving them to create lean, muscular and strong physiques.

While his own training programme was originally dominated by endurance-sports – medium-distance running and triathlon – since discovering strength training his approach has changed dramatically.  Richard is now a competitive Power Lifter in addition to being a qualified GWL Weightlifting Instructor (trained by Commonwealth 2004 Gold Medal winner Giles Greenwood) and UKSCA Strength and Conditioning Coach (Level 1).
He is the member of The Foundry most likely to discuss the latest in conspiracy theories.

If you want to train with someone who wants you to achieve your personal fitness goals as much as you do, then you can’t go wrong with Richard Thompson. I’ve been training with him since the beginning of 2012 and I’m at my fittest, leanest and most productive phase, ever!

Rich’s experience and attitude towards training, nutrition and health has been hugely beneficial. He was able to assess my condition and has designed a training programme that continues to be challenging, yet rewarding. Rich’s discipline, professionalism and attention to detail (technique, posture and form) is remarkable and has allowed me to get the very best from each and every session.

Rich is a real pro and I continue to recommend him without hesitation.

I am a 47 year old recreational cyclosportive rider but five years of weekly overseas commuting for work had played havoc with my fitness levels and weight.

I had passed The Foundry on several occasions but imagined it was a bit too serious for someone like me.  I finally took the plunge and went in and am now very thankful that I did.

After a friendly welcome I was allocated to Fee who listened carefully to my objectives.  After an initial assessment had confirmed my starting point we set to work to increase my flexibility, reduce my weight and improve my strength.  Fee set me a nutritional programme and we started training three times a week.

Every four weeks Fee checks my weight and body fat percentage so there is nowhere to hide!  After each check Fee reassesses my goals and the programme is adjusted to keep me progressing.

Twelve weeks in and I have lost 9 kilos and I am leaner, more flexible and stronger than I have been in years.  Suddenly I don’t feel 47 anymore.
